A great day was enjoyed by all at the 2020 Community Regatta. Once again the weather shone through on the day, paddlers volunteers and a large contingent of supporters flocked to the shore of Throsby Creek for a packed program of racing. It was wonderful this year to have a large group of community and corporate teams, three Breast Cancer Supporter and Dragons Abreast teams and both paddling and volunteer support from our neighbouring Dragonboat Club – Hunter River Dragons.
It was also wonderful to see such local support for a regatta in the 20th Anniversary Year of the Newcastle club, and to raise vital funds for on the day for drought relief through the Rural Aid charity.
A big thank you to all the teams who participated, the supporters and the sponsors – Coates Hire, St John Ambulance, V-Insurance Group, Transport for NSW, The City of Newcastle, AECOM, GHD & AURECON, NewPsych, ARTC, Hunter Water, Daracon Group, Mereweather Fitness, Novacare and Maitland Health.
Without the contributions everyone made before, on and after the event it would not have been the success it was – Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
But alas, as with all events, there are limited spots on the podium and so here are the results…
